The 2 Day Gorilla Trek Rwanda is a short, high-impact primate safari designed for travelers with limited time who want to experience mountain gorilla trekking in Volcanoes National Park.

With excellent road infrastructure and a short driving distance from Kigali, Rwanda offers one of the most accessible gorilla trekking experiences in Africa. This itinerary is ideal for business travelers, conference delegates, or visitors on tight schedules.

Detailed Tour Plan

Upon arrival at Kigali International Airport (or hotel pick-up in Kigali), you will meet your professional driver-guide for a short safari briefing.

Depending on arrival time, enjoy a brief Kigali city tour including:

Coffee experience

After lunch, drive approximately 2.5 hours north to Volcanoes National Park, located in the Virunga Mountains along the border with Uganda and DR Congo.

Arrive at your lodge in the late afternoon. Relax, enjoy dinner, and prepare for the next day’s trekking adventure.

Meal Plan: Lunch & Dinner

Early morning breakfast at the lodge, followed by transfer to the park headquarters in Kinigi for registration and briefing by park rangers.

You will be allocated a gorilla family group based on your fitness level. The trek can last between 2–6 hours depending on the location of the gorillas.

Once located, you will spend one unforgettable hour observing the mountain gorillas in their natural habitat. Witness their social interactions, feeding behavior, and playful juveniles in the forest.

After trekking, return to the lodge for lunch and freshening up before driving back to Kigali for drop-off at the airport or your hotel.
